SecurityScorecard Expands Security Talent with New Hire

Today, we announced the appointment of Steve Thomas as Director of Sales Engineering and Business Development. In this new position, Thomas will be responsible for applying his extensive technical security engineering background to help the company provide exceptional customer support services.

Prior to joining SecurityScorecard, Thomas served as Head of Security division and Director of Business Development at InfoArmor. Before that, he started his own company, PwnedList, monitoring compromised corporate credentials as a service, and sold the company to InfoArmor. He has had stints at Innography and worked for several different divisions of IBM as a global technical sales consultant.

Thomas is the author of multiple publications on securing against SQL injection attacks, including the 2007 book Using Automated Fix Generation to Mitigate SQL Injection Vulnerabilities. Thomas joins an already stellar team of security and data science experts that make up the foundation of our company and our product.

Dr. Alexsandr Yampolskiy, Chief Executive Officer, Co-founder

Dr. Yampolskiy was the CTO of BlogTalkRadio/Cinchcast, the former Head of Security and Compliance at Gilt Groupe, and has held lead technologist and security roles at Goldman Sachs, Oracle, and Microsoft. He is a published author and active speaker in the security and software development communities. His experience in security was the impetus for the founding and driving vision of SecurityScorecard.

Sam Kassoumeh, Chief Operating Officer, Co-founder

Kassoumeh is a seasoned cybersecurity professional who was the Head of Security and Compliance at Gilt and lead global security at Federal-Mogul. Sam has a keen understanding of the information security space with over 10 years of experience leading security teams.

Alex Heid, Chief of Research

Prior to joining SecurityScorecard, Heid was co-founder and president of HackMiami, and former researcher at Prolexic Technologies with the PLXsert team. Heid has extensive experience in digital crime intelligence analysis, application security auditing, vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, and reverse engineering of malware. His research has been featured at national industry conferences and global mainstream media, and was the creative force behind SecurityScorecard’s ThreatMarket™ security intelligence engine.

Marcello Duarte, Head of Threat Intelligence

Duarte is a security researcher with over 15 years of experience. He has specialized in vulnerability research with a focus on zero-day exploit development. He has sold a wide variety of exploit code to companies including iDefense. Duarte previously worked as a cybersecurity consultant for Redsky Alliance, and engineered the Threat Recon™ API. Duarte was the chief architect behind SecurityScorecard’s ThreatMarket™ security-risk data collection engine.

Dr. Sergey Fogelson, Lead Data Scientist

Dr. Fogelson has a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience. Prior to SecurityScorecard, he was a data scientist at Tapad where he built out the company’s graph analytics. Dr. Fogelson enjoys dissecting intractable problems and building scalable predictive models. He is also an avid teacher who has taught courses in data and computer science at: the Flatiron School, General Assembly, Developer Boot Camp (DBC), and has been a volunteer computer science teacher through TEALS (Technology Education And Literacy in Schools).

Scott Schneider, Vice President, Sales

Scott Schneider serves as the leader of Global Sales with responsibilities for overall business development and go-to-market strategy for SecurityScorecard. Prior to joining SecurityScorecard, he was Vice President of Sales at Norse, Lookingglass, iSIGHT Partners, and iDefense (acquired by Verisign).
